Androgynous model Andrej Pejic, dubbed the darling of the fashion industry right now, has been voted by FHM readers the 98th hottest woman in the world. FHM clearly doesn’t agree, as his profile read before it got pulled down.

Understandably, readers are outraged – and they have good reason to be so, since FHM called Andrej (a man who looks like a woman and can model for both genders) a “thing” that could make anyone go “please pass the sick bucket.”

Not only that, but it also suggested that Pejic had no place in modeling and, if this trend picked up any more followers, it (FHM, that is) would do its best to oppose it.

Pejic’s profile has been pulled down from the website of the magazine after readers complained, and a spokesperson for FHM has also issued a full apology, blaming it on a poor editorial job, the Daily Mail says.

“Did you spot it? The missing ‘s’ in ‘he’? Or perhaps the Adam’s apple was a giveaway? Don’t worry if you weren’t quick enough at playing detective, you are not alone. Andrej has been confusing the male gender since he was 14,” the model’s FHM profile read.

“Designers are hailing him as the next big thing. We think ‘thing’ is quite accurate. Tall, skinny and flat-chested. […] The blonde gender-bender has jumped the gun in hoping he might one day be signed as Victoria’s Secret Model (Pass the sick bucket),” it further said.

Since Pejic only made it in the hottest women top because readers voted for him, the least FHM could have done was to be respectful and not discriminate based on gender, outraged readers said on dedicated forums.

Consequently, FHM is apologizing for the mishap.

“Regrettably the copy accompanying Andrej’s online entry wasn’t subbed prior to going live. Once we realized, we removed it immediately and apologized for any offense caused,” says a statement from FHM.

“FHM has spoken to the individual concerned and taken steps to ensure this can never happen again,” the statement further says.

Andrej has not addressed the issue in any way yet.
