Independent game studio Red Barrels announced that Outlast: Whistleblower, the first DLC for the popular survival horror title, will become available for download on PlayStation 4 and PC on May 6.

The DLC pack will take players back to Mount Massive Asylum, the setting visited by over 2 million players worldwide, challenging their very sanity once again, as they encounter the corporate conspiracies and deranged experiments taking place in the bloodied halls that Miles Upshur, the original protagonist, had to endure.

Players will be cast as Waylon Park, the software engineer who emailed journalists all around the world at the beginning of the original Outlast – including former protagonist Miles Upshur.

Park is only several weeks into his contract with the Murkoff Corporation, recently arrived at Mount Massive, and due to the strict security protocols he has not even been able to contact his wife and son.

Waylon Park, growing increasingly suspicious of the shady dealings of the profit-motivated staff of the facility, learns of the dangerous and abhorrent experiments that the scientists are conducting on their patients, and sets in motion the events that lead to the unmasking of it all.

Outlast: Whistleblower is set before the events of Outlast took place, and stretches past the events of the first game, showing the true conclusion to Mount Massive Asylum's gruesome story.
