The Outdoor Network Corporation has started notifying users of two of its websites that their personal information might have been stolen by hackers.

The impacted websites are Boats.net, the largest Yamaha marine parts dealer in the US, and Partzilla.com, a provider of parts for motorcycles, ATVs, personal watercraft and scooters.

According to the letter sent out to impacted customers, cybercriminals planted malware in the shopping cart sections of the websites.

The company warns that the malware appears to have targeted information such as names, addresses, credit card numbers, expiration dates, and card security codes (CVVs or CVCs).

Individuals who have made purchases between December 2012 and July 2013 are impacted by the breach. Outdoor Network says it has delayed the notification of customers due to an investigation carried out by law enforcement.

Affected customers are advised to keep an eye on their account statements and credit reports, and to consider placing a fraud alert or security freeze on their credit file.

The company has hired Experian’s ConsumerInfo.com to handle the situation, but it doesn’t say anything about offering free credit monitoring services.
