The project intending to reboot one of the most prized possessions of 1999, the cult action adventure game Outcast, has just delivered the first morsel of high definition gameplay footage, something that everyone was eagerly waiting for since the initiative was first announced.

Developer Fresh3D Inc has shared the anticipated video a bit later than some would have preferred, with only 14 days to go in their fun raising campaign on Kickstarter, but the footage shows the reason why the deed had to be done.

The video shows a very early prototype that still uses a lot of assets from the original version of Outcast, but it still is compelling nonetheless, offering a glimpse into what the game could be come next year.

Outcast was considered way ahead of its time, with its non-linear, completely open-world approach to adventuring being something that you usually only see in massively multiplayer online role-playing games, and not in lowly adventure titles.

Moreover, the game also had a deep and fascinating story emerging from a rich and vibrant world, exerting a gripping hold on players and leaving many with fond memories.

The newly-released video is probably the best way to cast away any doubt that this project is worth it, and is something that the devs should have done to begin with, showing a clear image of the magnitude of their undertaking.
