Out of the Park Baseball (OOTP) 15, the best and probably the only serious baseball simulator in the world, has been released for the Linux platform.

Out of the Park Baseball is pretty much the only solution if you really want to play a serious sim. The developers of the game didn't take this leading position for granted and they've managed to make OOTP one of the best sims around, no matter the sport.

The closest comparison for the Out of the Park Baseball 15 is Football Manager 2014, in terms of features that are provided for the users. It's hard to get this kind of quality from a game, but it doesn't get any better than this.

“Our 2014 roster set includes all Opening Day major league team rosters, as well as the complete minor league system down to the rookie leagues. OOTP 15 also features the Venezuelan and Dominican summer leagues for the first time.”

“All major league (and some minor league) players' ratings are based on Baseball Prospectus' industry-leading player forecasting system PECOTA. The thousands of remaining minor league players are carefully rated by hand by our established research team,” reads the official announcement.

Out of the Park Baseball 15 is also the first game in the series to feature 3D action on the field and users can even import 3D ballparks saved in the Collada (.dae) format. According to the developers, the result is a new optional in-game view that renders realistic 3D ball flight in the stadium model.

Also, the new version of OOTP includes seven new international leagues that add thousands of real players, features stats and carefully adjusted ratings, and several league settings have been tweaked or added, a number of international leagues have been added (Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Mexico, Cuba, the Netherlands, and Italy).

The players will also be able to scout the next superstar from overseas, check a new optional rating system that calculates average player ratings for all positions, benefit from the new wide-screen resolutions, and get access to enhanced player history tracking.

The hardware requirements are also pretty straightforward: most 32-bit and 64-bit Linux OSes, a 1 GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM, and 1 GB of available space.

Out of the Park Baseball (OOTP) 15 can be purchased from a number of venues. You can get the game straight from the official website, or you can buy it on Steam.
