An otter pup born at Oregon Zoo about a month and a half ago has recently been “baptized.” Long story short, the baby North American otter will from now on be referred to as Zigzag.

Those who feel that Zigzag is not a cute-enough name for this little rascal are welcomed to call it Ziggy, the otter pup's caretakers say.

As previously reported, the baby otter was born on November 8 to mother Tilly. At that time, it weighed merely 5 ounces (28.3 grams).

Courtesy of the love and attention (plus the food) its very loving mother has been providing it with, Zigzag is now significantly stronger and thicker around the waist than it was just weeks ago.

According to ZooBorns, the folks who helped staff at the Oregon Zoo name the baby otter choose the name Zigzag over two other options, i.e. Willamette and Trask. The otter pup's moniker was voted on by about 8,000 people.
