Osprey Packs has suffered a data breach. The company has started notifying customers of its Pro Deal website that their personal details might have been stolen by the cybercriminals.

According to the notification letter, the attackers might have gained access to names, phone numbers, email addresses, billing and shipping addresses, credit card numbers and expiration dates.

An investigation has revealed that the attackers likely used a piece of malware to steal the login credentials for the Pro Deal website.

The hack took place as early as July 9, 2013. However, it was only identified on August 7, 2013, after a customer informed Osprey Packs of unauthorized activity on their credit card.

Other customers have also reported identifying fraudulent transaction attempts.

The company claims it has implemented additional security measures to prevent future incidents. Impacted customers have been provided with instructions on how to protect themselves, but they haven’t been offered any free identity protection services.
