No one cared about the Oscar winners once she arrived

Beyonce didn’t attend the Oscars 2015 on Sunday, held at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, but she did come out for the biggest afterparty in town, the Vanity Fair bash, which included countless A-list guests including 2 of the winners of the night, Julianne Moore and Eddie Redmayne.

Both picked up gongs in a main category, Best Actress and Best Actor, respectively, for their roles in “Still Alice” and “The Theory of Everything.” Both found themselves completely ignored, shut out when Beyonce and husband Jay Z arrived at the party, a new report in Us Weekly says.

Beyonce arrives, shuts down the place

Beyonce and Jay are the highest profile and most successful couple in showbiz right now. Separately and together, they have managed to build an entire business empire that includes music, fashion and all kinds of endorsements.

They can command media attention even when they don’t do anything special, so having even celebrities fawning over them must be something they’ve grown accustomed to. What’s surprising about this report is that this happened at the cost of Julianne and Eddie, at a party that should have been in their honor.

“Everybody went nuts!” an insider says for the celebrity publication, of the reaction people had when Beyonce and Jay arrived. “You're not supposed to take pictures of celebs inside but when Beyonce and Jay Z came, everyone whipped out their phones!”

Apparently, that was just the beginning: not only did Beyonce and Jay suck out all the attention in the room, but in doing so, they shut out the two Oscar winners.

“Julianne Moore, Eddie Redmayne, and John Legend are walking around with their Oscars and all anybody here cares about now is Beyonce,” the spy says.

On the other hand, this wasn’t Beyonce’s fault, because she didn’t deliberately set out to steal their thunder. After the usual photo op on the red carpet and exchanging pleasantries with celebs upon arrival, she and Jay, accompanied by Kevin Hart, Jennifer Lopez and her manager Benny Medina, retired to a private booth where they partied the night away, sipping on expensive champagne.

A win is a win

Even assuming there’s some truth to this report, chances are Julianne, Eddie and John, and whoever might have felt slighted by the lack of attention because of Beyonce’s unexpected appearance, didn’t exactly cry themselves to sleep at night.

The Oscars 2015 represented a huge milestone for these 3 artists: Julianne finally got the Oscar millions of people thought she should have already had on her mantelpiece, Eddie’s win of Best Actor was the night’s biggest (but pleasant) upset, and John capped off a spectacular year by taking home the Oscar for Best Song - and he used the attention to speak on the need to fight racism and discrimination.

So yes, even if Beyonce’s presence at the Vanity Fair party cast a long shadow on them, they still had the most amazing and fulfilling night of their career.
