The Oscars 2014, held this Sunday at the Dolby Theater, weren’t surprising when it came to the biggest winners of the night, but they were memorable for a handful of other things. One of them was Ellen DeGeneres’ famous multi-selfie that temporarily broke Twitter.

That selfie is above. It includes some of the biggest stars in film right now, including the Brangelina couple, Channing Tatum, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Kevin Spacey, Bradley Cooper, Lupita Nyong’o, Jared Leto, Julia Roberts and Ellen herself.

In case you missed the Oscarcast on ABC, the video embedded below shows how the photo came to be. Ellen had initially wanted just a photo of herself and Meryl Streep (and perhaps Julia Roberts too), hoping it would be so spectacular, it would write Twitter history.

Other celebrities jumped in, in what was obviously a rehearsed – but still very funny – move. My favorite part wasn’t when Lupita’s brother, the only non-celebrity in the photo, accidentally licked Brad Pitt’s face, but Jennifer’s suggestion that Meryl reveal a breast to ensure the photo goes viral.

Meryl didn’t and neither did Channing, who volunteered, but the pic still set a new record for the most retweets, over 1 million in just 30 minutes.
