If you’re one of the many millions of people who thought Seth MacFarlane’s humor didn’t make him an appropriate Oscars host or even that he was too offensive for such an important awards show, you can breathe easy: he’s officially out of the race.

Though he never made a secret of his intention of making this year’s hosting gig a one-time thing, Seth has taken to his Twitter to set the record straight and put all those “traumatized critics’” minds at ease, writing that he won’t be back next year.

“Traumatized critics exhale: I’m unable to do the Oscars again,” he writes.

“Tried to make it work schedule-wise, but I need sleep. However, I highly recommend the job, as Zadan and Meron are two of the most talented producers in the business. My suggestion for host is Joaquin Phoenix,” MacFarlane adds.

I could get behind the idea of having Phoenix host but, considering how he trashed the awards gala in an interview last year, chances are he isn’t exactly itching to do it.
