Oprah Winfrey says she didn’t feel snubbed for not being nominated for Best Supporting Actress for the Oscars 2014

Just like Robert Redford, the Queen of Television Oprah Winfrey is choosing to be very gracious about her Oscar snub, even though many angry voices online are saying she was positively robbed by not being nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards 2014.

The nominees were announced the other day and, as it happens every year, lists were instantly made and started to make the rounds with the names of the actors, directors and films that deserved a chance at the much coveted award.

Oprah’s was on every one of them because her performance in “Lee Daniels’ The Butler” was truly outstanding. Fans might believe she has every reason to be fuming at the Academy right now but, the truth is, Oprah is happy her name is even mentioned in the same sentence as those of the nominees, she tells E! News.

These are: Sally Hawkins (“Blue Jasmine”), Jennifer Lawrence (“American Hustle”), Lupita Nyong’o (“12 Years a Slave”), Julia Roberts (“August: Osage County”) and June Squibb (“Nebraska”).

“Look at that category, and look who's nominated in that category. My friend Julia, and June, who I don't know, but Sally Hawkins, and Jennifer and Lupita. I think that's fantastic,” Oprah says.

Considering she’s been focusing on television for so many years, leaving acting on second place, she thinks she’s done pretty well even without a nomination.

“I haven't picked up the acting chops in 15 years, so to be able to be a part of a film that could get that kind of attention, that could earn that kind of audience respect that it has… I've been saying all along, ‘I already won’,” the star continues.

“If anybody sees or reads anything that says I was the slightest bit upset… I had no expectation for a nomination. I really didn't. I think I was the only person who didn't in my group. And I just feel like, wow. What an amazing thing I got to do that. I really do,” she adds.

Still, she admits that she was surprised the film didn’t score a nomination in the Best Film category, because it deserved to be there. Now that’s a snub, if you ask O.
