As any true movie buff must know, actors and directors and movie studios campaign for Oscars pretty much like politicians campaign for office. Though he’s already generating some buzz in this sense with “The Counselor” and “12 Years a Slave,” Michael Fassbender says he’s done with this.

The actor is featured in the latest issue of GQ Magazine with an interview that touches upon a wide variety of topics, the upcoming Academy Awards included.

If you were hoping to see him there or to hear more of him because he’d be tooting his own horn for votes, you’re wrong.

“That’s just not going to happen, because I’ll be in New Zealand. I’ll be on the other side of the world. You know, I get it. Everybody’s got to do their job. So you try and help and facilitate as best you can. But I won’t put myself through that kind of situation again,” Michael says.

He already got burned once, is what he’s trying to say. The industry had him pegged for a sure nomination for “Shame” and he campaigned for it, but he never got it. He’s probably still thinking he got cheated out of it.

“It’s just a grind. And I’m not a politician. I’m an actor,” Fassbender adds.
