Ellen DeGeneres and Liza Minneli get together for a selfie at the Oscars 2014

Liza Minnelli didn’t seem to appreciate one of Ellen DeGeneres’ jokes included in the opening monolog at the Oscars 2014, which she hosted for the second time, the one comparing her to a drag queen doing a Liza Minneli impersonation. As it turns out, she really didn’t think it was funny, it wasn’t just an act.

Paparazzi from TMZ caught up with Liza the other night and, naturally, asked her if she had fun at the Oscars and what she thought of Ellen’s opening speech. You can see her response in the video below and, in case you missed the Oscar moment, you will find it in the GIFs under the clip.

Basically, Liza says, if Ellen had stopped at saying that they were friends, she would have been ok; but Ellen didn’t stop and, thus, went too far by saying that she was a drag queen.

Still, the icon laughs, she is convinced Ellen didn’t mean anything bad by the joke. Other than that, Liza thinks Ellen did a very good job as host of the prestigious gala and that she was funny throughout. With this one exception, of course.

As for that multi-selfie that broke Twitter, in which Liza too tried to squeeze in but couldn’t because she is not tall enough, she is amused that the paparazzo would think she’s upset about it. Do you know how many amazing photos I took?, she says. Point well made, Miss Liza.
