“Vertigo” actress gets badly burned on Twitter after appearance with Matthew McConaughey

Last night’s Oscars 2014 awards gala was definitely Matthew McConaughey’s crowning moment, as he walked home clutching his very own Best Actor statuette, which he won for his role in “Dallas Buyers Club.” Unwillingly, he was also part of another much-hyped moment, when he walked up on stage with Kim Novak.

Chances are, if you’re younger than 25, you don’t know who Novak is, so we’ll just fill in the gaps for you quickly: she is mostly famous for appearing in Alfred Hitchcock’s classic “Vertigo,” and was, in her time, quite the screen siren, a very beautiful woman and talented actress.

Ms. Novak retired from the public eye in 1965 and altogether from film in 1991, after a spat with director Mike Figgis on the set of “Liebestraum,” her last movie. She hasn’t been seen at public functions in a very long time – and today, we probably know why.

She was asked to present with Matthew the awards for Best Animated Short Film and Best Animated Feature Film and, as you can see in the video above, the reason her name is on everyone’s lips right now is because of the stuff she did to her face while out of the spotlight.

Many actresses admit that they get regular Botox fixes and some plastic surgery for maintenance work, and even more would admit to Botox and fillers ahead of an event as important as the Oscars. However, what Ms. Novak seems to have done to her face shocked the audiences at home, with millions taking to Twitter to lament the situation.

Clearly, she can barely move her face to speak and, when she smiles, the whole thing seems almost painful to her, as if her face split in two at a moment’s notice, they say.

Some were harsher, pointing out to how ironical it was that the once-gorgeous actress now turned unrecognizable because of plastic surgery and Botox and fillers and what-not, was on hand to present the producers of Disney’s “Frozen” with an Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film.

We won’t reproduce what they said here because some of the things said were simply too mean, but USA Today has a fine selection of them.

You can’t tell by her face, but Ms. Novak is actually 81 years old: that’s 81 years of age and not a wrinkle in sight. If you ever wondered what’s this pressure everyone is talking about, that’s applied on celebrities to always look “perfect,” you have your answer in the video above. And it’s not even remotely funny.
