14 DAY TRIAL // Kim Kardashian is engaged to rapper Kanye West, so she probably considers herself A-list. The organizers of the Vanity Fair Oscars 2014 afterparty clearly didn’t agree with her on that, since they denied her requests for an invite.
Above is a photo of Kim looking quite spectacular in a red gown, with sisters Kourtney and Khloe and momager Kris Jenner, at Sir Elton John’s post-Oscars party. However, that was not where she wanted to be, insiders reveal for Radar Online.
She wanted to be at the Vanity Fair afterparty, one of the biggest and most exclusive in town, spies say, and she pulled all the strings she could pull to get her name on the guestlist.
She “desperately wanted to attend,” says one such insiders but, to Kim’s disappointment, she was denied. It must have been a huge blow to her ego, especially since she was told – allegedly – that she wasn’t A-list enough to attend.
“It’s the hottest party during the entire award season and Kim desperately wanted to go. Kim’s camp had made inquiries to the Vanity Fair party host Graydon Carter about whether she’d make the list. He never got back to her people! It wasn’t ever going to ever happen,” says an insider.
Still, Kim didn’t lose hope until the last moment.
“Everyone knows Vanity Fair is strictly A-list only, which means, no reality stars. It would have been a circus if Kim along with her mom and sisters went to the party. Graydon would have gotten nothing but grief from actors that didn’t get an invite!” the tipster says.
For Kim, attending the VF bash just wasn’t on the cards, but she still made it to another high-profile event, where she made sure she lapped up all the attention.
As you can see in the photo, Kim wore a very low-cut red gown by Celia Kritharioti with diamonds by Lorraine Schwartz, and natural-looking makeup except for very bold and very red lips. Sister Khloe wore a burgundy figure-hugging gown, while Kourtney wore a mock-tuxedo. Mother and manager Kris kept it neutral in a black sparkling gown.
Assuming the above report is accurate and Kim really wanted to make it on the Vanity Fair guestlist only to be denied in such an ungracious fashion, we can only imagine how badly it must have stung her. There’s no denying that Kim is popular and influential (and rich as well), but she’s not A-list yet, not in the sense all the other VF guests are.
As a fun fact, just over the weekend, Kim also won a Razzie for her “performance” in Tyler Perry’s “Confessions.” This was supposed to be the role that would help her break into acting.
