Actress takes a spill on her dress as she arrives, laughs it off afterwards

Jennifer Lawrence is making tripping and falling at the Oscars a yearly tradition, because she took another spill at the Oscars 2014, which were held hours ago at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood. This time, she fell on the red carpet, moments after she’d gotten out of her car.

Last year, as she was getting up on stage to accept her Best Actress award, Jennifer forgot to kick her voluminous Dior dress before stepping, so she stepped on it and landed on all fours on the stairs. She was helped up by men in the front row, and continued on her way.

This year too, she had some help in recovering from what could have been an awkward moment. It’s true, it didn’t happen during the awards gala, so perhaps not that many people were watching, but it was still captured on camera.

You can see it in the video below, as it was broadcast on E! during the red carpet coverage. You can see Jennifer arrive, wearing a red Dior gown, surrounded by her entourage and then… you don’t see her anymore because she’s down.

A police officer and the female friend in front of her proved of great help with steadying Jennifer and preventing her from actually sprawling on the floor. You can see that she’s laughing as she’s getting up and, if you know anything of her, you also know why.

Speaking with the press later, Jennifer joked that she wasn’t “safe” anymore, as her latest fall could prove. She also had a blast during host Ellen DeGeneres’ opening monolog, which was adapted at the last minute to include jokes about how prone she was to such accidents.

Right below the video, you will find two GIFs: one of them is of the moment Jennifer fell, the other is of her reaction to Ellen’s jokes about her Oscar accidents. The handsome guy sitting right next to her is real-life boyfriend Nicholas Hoult, whom you probably recognize from “X-Men” and “Warm Bodies.”

Jennifer’s mishap is even funnier if you think that, only a few days ago, she was talking about presenting at the gala, promising she wouldn’t fall again.

“It looked like I was drunk. I did learn, though, not to let the dress gather in the front when you walk up the stairs,” she said.

To her credit, she didn’t fall on stairs now. Above is last year’s accident.
