Kim Kardashian would have given an arm and leg to be on the guestlist for the Vanity Fair Oscars 2014 afterparty, but Gwyneth Paltrow can afford not only not to attend it, but to sabotage it by asking her friends to skip it, according to a new report.

Gwyneth and Vanity Fair have been feuding for some time, right after word got out online that the mag was preparing a tell-all profile that would expose her for who she really was. Drum roll.

The tell-all never made it out in print but, for months in a row, there was a lot of speculation on what it might have dealt with, with many saying it would have exposed a secret affair Gwyneth had been having outside of her marriage to Chris Martin.

If we’re to believe rumors online, Gwyneth is out to destroy Graydon Carter, the Vanity Fair editor-in-chief, for even thinking of running such a damaging story about her. She has already encouraged her famous friends not to do interviews for the publication in the future and, according to the New York Daily News, not to attend their post-Oscars party.

In previous years, the biggest stars at the Oscars would be at the Vanity Fair party, but the 2014 edition was the exception. Sandra Bullock, George Clooney, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Aniston and many more were notably absent.

The connection between them and Paltrow is that they’re all repped by the same agency, which could mean that she pulled all strings to get them to skip it.

“CAA agents may have suggested to top talent that they should consider another party instead — like Madonna’s ultra-exclusive post-Oscars bash,” the aforementioned media outlet says, citing a “well-placed source.”

“Although Paltrow is represented by Tracey Jacobs at UTA, her publicist is Stephen Huvane. Stephen’s brother, Kevin Huvane, is an uber-agent and managing partner at CAA, which reps Meryl Streep, Kevin Spacey and Sandra Bullock, who all skipped the VF bash. However, Anne Hathaway, who shares a publicist with Paltrow, did attend the magazine’s party, along with host Ellen Degeneres, who smooched her wife Portia de Rossi and Bono all at once,” adds the report.

Those who were at the party were there to save face, insiders claim, in the sense that CAA couldn’t pull all celebrities from the event because that would have been “too obvious.”

For what it’s worth, a short while ago, Graydon Carter confirmed that Vanity Fair was going to write an editorial on Gwyneth, but he said nothing of a rumored extramarital affair. He did say, though, that Gwyneth called him to prevent him from publishing it, and that she told him he was fat.
