Chris Hemsworth’s wife is pregnant with twins, showed off baby bump on the red carpet

One of the most buzzed appearances on the red carpet at the Oscars 2014 was acting couple Chris Hemsworth and wife Elsa Pataky, who are now expecting twins. She wore an Elie Saab gown that wasn’t maternity wear, showing off her baby bump.

Most fashion media outlets chose to point out that the dress wasn’t a good choice for Elsa, who usually nails it on the red carpet. It wasn’t because of her huge baby bump that the choice wasn’t right, but rather the cut and the fabric of the dress that left a lot to be desired.

E!’s Fashion Police focused on Elsa’s baby bump and practically body-shamed her for having one because, you know, she’s carrying two babies inside, Shine Yahoo! reports.

Then again, the Fashion Police segment on the network is rarely about fashion and, more often than not, about personal vendettas and body- or fat-shaming. You only have to remember the feud between Christina Aguilera and Fashion Police resident Kelly Osbourne to understand that.

Some months ago, Kelly literally gloated when she had to discuss a red carpet appearance by Aguilera, who had just gained some weight. Instead of talking about the singer’s dress, Kelly just said that she could laugh because “now she’s fat too!.”

When Else and Chris walked up on the red carpet, the entire panel focused on her baby bump instead of on her dress.

“I’m sorry, look at her tummy!” Joan Rivers screamed. She was never the nice one, but she seemed really determined to make a point of just how mean she could get. “She is HUGE. I know why she’s huge. I saw her sonogram,” she continued, as a photo of Ellen DeGeneres’ multi-selfie popped up on screen.

That is to say, Rivers claimed Elsa was carrying at least 12 people inside her, which is how many celebrities were in that selfie, Ellen included.

“The last thing I wanna do is rip on a pregnant woman,” George Kotsiopoulos chimed in. “[But] that doesn't look like a a baby bump, it looks like a beer belly.”

Giulina Rancic finally cut in, several minutes too late, saying, “I'm not a good friend, because I saved this till the end, but she is pregnant with twins.”

And with that, Elsa’s Elie Saab dress was “discussed” on the Fashion Police.

In recent months, several celebrities have lashed out at the show for bullying people and being the exact opposite of what they claim to be. It’s not a fashion-centered show, but an excuse to bash stars for a variety of other reasons, they say. These celebrities include Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lawrence, to name just two of the most popular.
