James Bond is coming to the Oscars. The prestigious awards gala will include a special segment to mark the 50th anniversary of the insanely successful film franchise, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.

Producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron note that a James Bond collage will be included in the Oscarcast because the 50th anniversary can’t simply go by unnoticed.

“We are very happy to include a special sequence on our show saluting the Bond films on their 50th birthday,” they say in a statement for THR.

“Starting with Dr. No back in 1962, the 007 movies have become the longest-running motion picture franchise in history and a beloved global phenomenon,” the producers add.

The latest installment in the franchise, “Skyfall,” came out in 2012 and turned out to be the biggest of all 007 movies, both as regards box office gross and critical reception.

Not few are the James Bond fans hoping to see it among the Oscar nominees.
