Pop star says being nominated would be an “honor,” winning a dream come true

Katy Perry is nominated for 9 Grammy awards at this year’s ceremony but she dares dream even bigger than that: she’d like it if she got a nomination for the Academy Awards 2013 for Best Song, she admits.

On January 10, the Academy will announce the nominees for that category, and Katy stands a good chance at getting a nod with “Wide Awake,” which she wrote for her concert movie “Katy Perry: Part of Me.”

From her interview with USA Today, Katy is definitely not ruling out the possibility of getting a nomination.

“It’s like a dream’s dream. When I was growing up and working on music, it was always a dream to win a Grammy, but Oscar was so far out of my dream sphere,” she says.

“This would be a nomination of a completely different caliber. One that is more impressive than many other ones I’ve had. It’s interesting to step out of your playing field and to be recognized from a different angle. It would be an honor,” she adds.

Even better would be winning. Katy doesn’t let herself think this far, except to say she’d probably kill it on the red carpet fashion-wise.
