Fashionable couple color-coordinates for cinema's big night
Tom Cruise and Kate Holmes have seen, as a couple, perhaps more negative media than any other but they never let that bring them down. At the Oscars 2012, they were the perfect picture of Hollywood royalty.Leaving Suri at home, the two stepped out for a “date” night at the Academy Awards, where Tom was also listed as presenter: he presented the Best Picture award, which went to “The Artist.”
They shunned the pre-Oscars red carpet but more than made it up to photographers and the press on the red carpet at the post-Oscars Vanity Fair party.
You can see two of the pics snapped on this occasion also included with this article. There's no denying that they looked stunning.
While Tom kept it classy in a black (or dark blue, depending on light) tie suit, Katie looked like a fairytale princess in a midnight blue gown by Elie Saab.
Taken from the Haute Couture collection, the strapless, chiffon gown had a bodice sprinkled with sapphires and a semi-transparent cut-out effect, and a velvet waistband.
The 33-year-old star accessorized it with gold jewels from her own line, shoes by Chanel and a purse by Lanvin.
The only thing that was a bit “off” about her princess look was the hair, which was pulled in a high ponytail – the bangs, in particular, seemed to age her quite a lot.
Other than that, both looked their best.
As is usually the case with events of this magnitude, celebrity bloggers are busy doing some nitpicking about the TomKat pics snapped on the red carpet – and they claim to notice something looking very much like a baby bump.
Speculation about the two A-listers having another child after Suri has often made headlines, but they never came to anything.
Chances are it's not going to happen now – any “bump” visible on Katie was probably a combination of more factors, including bad angle, bad posture and too much puffy fabric.
