The awards show has offered quite a lot to see as far as fashion is concerned

Rounding up the Oscars 2012 fashion talk, after discussing various gowns separately, here's a quicker look at all the other ladies who shone on the red carpet and, thus, made their way on the best dressed list.

Starting off at number one, we have the lady of the night herself, iconic actress Meryl Streep, who also won the Oscar for Best Actress for her role in “The Iron Lady,” giving one of the most beautiful acceptance speeches in history.

Though some fashion watchers have said that the gold Lanvin dress she wore for her big night was a bit too much because it had too much fabric and too many folds, making her look uncomfortable in it, we'd say she looked great.

Everything about her oozed Hollywood glamor, the kind that should be apparent at such a prestigious event as the Oscars.

Meryl accessorized with a Lanvin clutch, vintage earrings by Fred Leighton, and Ferragamo shoes.

Her hair and makeup were to die for – and also, very Oscar-appropriate.

Rose Byrne, star of “Bridesmaids,” the Academy's favorite raunchy comedy for 2011, literally shimmered on the red carpet in a black sequined number by Vivienne Westwood with an exposed back.

The actress, looking very chic, very French-like with her banged bob, paired the one-shoulder gown with Jimmy Choos and jewels by Chanel Fine Jewelry for a truly outstanding look.

The belle of the ball in the most traditional sense of the word was officially Penelope Cruz, who went for a Grace Kelly look in both dress and hairstyling.

The Spanish star and new mommy, who attended the Oscars alone (she did not pose with her husband Javier Bardem on the red carpet), wore a custom-made Giorgio Armani organza gown, which stood out for its very ample skirt, off-the-shoulder straps and a fitted bodice.

To achieve said Grace Kelly effect, Penelope had most of her natural hair tucked underneath to create the impression of a shorter cut. She also wore diamonds by Chopard.

Jessica Chastain, star of “The Help,” was also among the female stars who dared to stand out from the crowd – and everybody knows there's no better way to do that than with Alexander McQueen.

The star rocked a classic design by the late “enfant terrible” of fashion, which she accessorized with Harry Winston jewels.

In her case too, the makeup and hair were both impeccable and very awards-appropriate.

The next three stars, all beautiful in their own way, made a splash on the red carpet by going for lighter colors and even white, although it's considered too “bridal” for such events. They pulled it off spectacularly.

Octavia Spencer, who won the much-coveted statuette for Best Supporting Actress for her role in “The Help,” looked stunning in a custom hand beaded Tadashi Shoji gown, which flattered her curvy figure and made her stand out.

She finished the look with Jimmy Choos, Neil Lane jewelry and a Judith Leiber clutch.

Shailene Woodley, the 20-year-old who won over critics with her portrayal in “The Descendants,” was ravishing in a Valentino Couture long-sleeved gown with a fake see-through panel on her chest.

The dress, which seemed ripped from the pages of a retro fashion magazine, was perfect for her slender body and young age.

She paired it with Ferragamo shoes, Harry Winston jewelry and a Valentino clutch.

Milla Jovovich was the ultimate glamorous supermodel in a white, beaded, off the shoulder Elie Saab gown, with dramatic jewelry by Jacob & Co and even more dramatic makeup.

Asked about her choice for the night, she said she liked the dress the instant she laid eyes on it – no wonder.

“When I saw this dress I just fell in love with it… clean and radiant, and I felt like this color was perfect,” she told reporters on the red carpet.

Yet another actress who oozed old Hollywood glamor was 64-year-old Glen Close, nominated for Best Actress for “Albert Nobbs.”

The star looked divine in a green Zac Posen gown with matching jacket, and Judith Leiber bag, and Bulgari earrings.

Tina Fey was the only celebrity to wear Carolina Herrera on the red carpet at the Oscars on Sunday – and she made sure she got everybody talking about it.

The midnight blue gown, custom made for the comedienne, was a perfect fit for her. She accessorized with Bulgari jewels, shoes by Stuart Weitzman, and a purse by Roger Vivier.
