14 DAY TRIAL // You'd think that competition in the Oscar race is so tight that nominees would even walk on dead bodies to get one of those much-coveted statuettes. In the case of Brad Pitt and George Clooney, things couldn't be any more different.
The two, very good friends in real life as well, are in the running for Best Actor and Best Movie, with Clooney receiving nods for “The Descendants,” while Brad is nominated for both “Moneyball” and “The Tree of Life.”
Asked by reporters how he'd feel if he lost out to his good friend, Brad says he'd actually be happy if he did, Us Weekly reports.
In fact, Brad suggests he has an even better idea: just hand over all Oscars to George, and then invent a few more categories just so he can take those home too.
“It’s more fun to have a friend there, and no one does it better than George. I say give him all the trophies, and when you run out of trophies, make some new ones and give him those, too,” Pitt says.
As per his own words, he doesn't really care if he win an Oscar or not: he's just happy to have been nominated and to see a film he wanted so badly to make (“Moneyball”) make it theaters and be well received by audiences and critics alike.
“It means so much considering this film was just dead on the rocks two years ago. It took a lot of people, a lot of artisans and craftsmen, to get it to the screen. It’s a great honor, a real tribute to Billy Beane and Oakland A’s organization. I’m really happy,” Brad gushes.
He's equally happy that other members of the team that made “Moneyball” possible get the acknowledgement they so justly deserve.
“I’m so happy for Jonah Hill. I can’t tell you,” Brad says of his “Moneyball” co-star, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actor.
