The Oscars 2012 did not have performances from the Best Song nominees, but they weren't devoid of spectacular moments. On the contrary – and it was all thanks to Cirque du Soleil, the “Iris” troupe.

The dancers took to the stage to perform the most beautiful tribute to cinema ever, which also included jaw-dropping acrobatics, flips in the air and whatever else you may come to expect from such a reputable act.

The routine was performed against a backdrop featuring footage from some of the most famous titles in the industry, including “Gone with the Wind,” “Titanic,” “North by Northwest” and “Spider-Man,” but also from this year's nominees.

Introduced by none other than Muppets Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog, the routine was followed by host Billy Crystal, who simply could not stop wondering and gushing about what he'd just seen.

“Wow, I pulled a hamstring just watching that. We've got puppets, acrobats... we're a pony away from a bar mitzvah!” he said.
