14 DAY TRIAL // Though Jake Gyllenhaal flew to Nashville after breaking up with Taylor Swift to give her closure and explain to her what went wrong, the country singer still had more questions that needed answering – and she asked them at the Vanity Fair party after the Oscars 2011.
As it must already be well-known, Swift and Gyllenhaal dated for about 2 months back in 2010 and then, quite out of blue as per reports, he broke it off with her by phone, right before the winter holidays.
Taylor was, of course, heartbroken. Jake tried to mend things some weeks later, as word of his behavior towards her transpired into the media but, it would seem, to no avail.
At the Vanity Fair post-Oscar party, which both attended, Taylor pulled Jake aside for a heart-to-heart talk, two separate reports note.
Both People magazine and PageSix claim to have it on very good authority that the singer confronted Jake at the party, asking him some questions that kept bugging her. No word yet on what these might have been.
“They were outside near the restroom having a discussion. It seemed a bit more serious – it certainly wasn’t a ‘Hi, how are you?’ talk,” one source at the Vanity Fair party tells People.
“It seemed like they were catching up, sorting something out,” another spy adds.
After the chat, Jake lingered on for a few moments more and then left the party. Taylor, who was there with two friends, spent the rest of the night in their company, not speaking to anyone.
PageSix too has a source that says basically the same: at the bash, Jake and Taylor talked for a while and it seemed like she was confronting him about something.
“It was a serious conversation,” says one spy. A second source “reports they stood a foot away from each other, but couldn’t look at each other,” PageSix adds.
“It looked like they had just had a heart-to- heart talk. There were handlers and security all around them trying to keep everybody away,” the spy explains.
