14 DAY TRIAL // On the red carpet at the Oscars 2011 on Sunday night, newly-divorced Scarlett Johansson made an appearance on the arm of a mystery man. His identity has now been revealed, but whether they’re dating as speculated is still to be seen.
Scarlett brought as her date to the Oscars her agent, Monsters and Critics reports. Following the awards show, rumors started to pick up that the mystery man could be her latest love interest.
As such, to prevent this from really getting out of hand, her rep has issued a statement to say that the two are in a working relationship and have come to the Oscars as friends – and nothing more.
“Actress Scarlett Johansson took her agent Joe Machota as her date to the Oscars,” M&C writes.
“Her rep has now confirmed to Us Magazine that her date was in fact her agent Joe Machota, who also represents actress Jane Fonda. Their relationship is said to be platonic,” says the same e-zine.
In recent weeks, Scarlett has been linked in the media to men like Sean Penn, ex Ryan Reynolds and even alleged ex Justin Timberlake, so it’s no wonder tabloids immediately jumped at the conclusion she must be dating the man she brought to the Oscars.
At previous awards shows, Scarlett came with her twin brother Hunter Johansson, so not seeing him there and seeing Machota instead also contributed to the rumor that she’d brought her lover along.
For the awards show, Scarlett wore a purple Dolce & Gabbana dress with a low cleavage in the back, that highlighted her incredible figure.
She seems to have lost some weight but still retains her fabulous curves, which is why the cut of this gown suited her just wonderfully.
Styling left a little to be desired, in that some fashion critics opine that her ‘do was too understated for the red carpet at the Oscars, though it could have worked at a smaller, less important event.
