Oscars 2011: Reese Witherspoon Is Stunning in Armani Privé

Reese Witherspoon was one of the many presenters at the Oscars 2011, and an Oscar winner herself in one of the previous editions. On the red carpet, though, she was one of the best-dressed ladies of the night, an undisputed winner.

Whereas other ladies tried too hard (Sharon Stone, Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter, if one pays attention to what fashion gurus are saying), Reese was the picture of pure elegance – effortlessly.

The actress wore a simple Armani Privé black gown with just a little bit of white on the corset, punctuated by large emerald earrings and ring.

The whole outfit was even better complimented by an oversized retro ‘do, the kind that Reese works so wonderfully, as any fan who’s seen her in “Walk the Line” can attest.

“Reese Witherspoon’s simple black Armani Privé gown with a white band at the bustline was Oscar elegant. (It looks a bit like the vintage Valentino gown that Julia Roberts wore when she won the Oscar in 2001.)” Culture Map says.

Witherspoon was definitely among the best dressed of the evening.

“Witherspoon’ retro updo had a hip ‘60s attitude; think Julie Christie in Darling. So what if it smacks of Oscar Barbie? It was our favorite look of the evening,” the same e-zine notes.

It is not the only one to say that Reese chose the perfect gown, the perfect accessories and the perfect hairstyle for the evening either.

“Though Reese Witherspoon wasn’t competing in this year’s Best Actress Oscar Race she was easily the evening’s fashion frontrunner. She was the portrait of elegance and sophistication,” fashion editor and stylist Robin Saperstein writes for blog.zap2it.

“Witherspoon’s black strapless dress features a simple white satin band fit and the emerald and diamond Neil Lane earings added the perfect amount of color. Reese rocked the retro ponytail to perfection, head-to-toe she looked absolutely flawless,” Saperstein adds.

Indeed, Reese always makes for a gorgeous appearance on the red carpet, even if, at times, there are voices who say she could have done better. At the Oscars 2011, though, there was no room for improvement as far as she was concerned.
