Madonna was not at the Academy Awards 2011 ceremony on Sunday night but she did make an appearance at the biggest post-Oscar party, for Vanity Fair. As expected, she caused quite a ruckus too with her choice for an outfit.
The 52-year-old singer brought her daughter Lourdes (or Lola) to the party as her date, and even walked the carpet hand in hand, posing for pictures.
However, it was not that that caught the eye and got people talking, but rather Madonna’s outfit, which seemed to be missing an otherwise essential wardrobe item: the pants.
Madonna was wearing a black leotard with black stockings and black pumps. Over the leotard, she had on a black silk “dress” of sorts, matched with a black furry jacket but neither of this could hide her bum from view.
As
Style Bistro puts it, this is one celebrity who knows best what to do to attract attention.
“The pop superstar was noticeably pantsless at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party on Sunday evening, where she commanded the red carpet in a black leotard with a floor-length black lace overlay and a furry jacket,” writes the aforementioned e-zine.
“Perhaps Madonna had been watching the Oscars telecast at home and wanted to figure out a way to upstage Sharon Stone, whose ensemble was very Cruella DeVille by way of Black Swan,” Style Bistro states.
“The dress appears to be a Dolce & Gabbana design. Madge played off the look with stick-straight locks parted to the side,” the e-zine says.
Lola, on the other hand, went for the funky look with a very short and very sparkling white mini dress with heavy detailing. She matched that with black pumps and lots of bracelets.
However, it was Madonna who stole the show, especially when she turned her back to the camera to enter the venue where the party was held – and her derriere was in plain sight.
Because of her choice of walking the red carpet without pants, some celebrity
bloggers choose to believe this is Madonna’s way of showing Lady Gaga how it’s done.
