When she first tried to make it in showbiz, on American Idol, Jennifer Hudson was reportedly told she did not have the qualities to be a pop star. In other words, she was too heavy. Now, after shedding 80 pounds, nutritionists are debating whether she hasn’t lost too much weight.

At the Oscars 2011, Jennifer wowed in a tangerine creation by Atelier Versace. Dripping in diamonds and flashing the brightest smile ever, she was considered one of the most gorgeous appearances on the red carpet of the evening.

Until talk started of how much thinner she appears these days. Allure magazine has launched a debate into whether Jennifer is not pushing her weight loss too far, with most commenters inclined to say that she is, the Daily Mail informs.

The singer and actress, herself an Oscar winner, has admitted to dropping 80 pounds since starting the Weight Watchers program, but has always insisted on keeping her weight in check lest she lost too much.

It’s already happened, some believe.

“Jennifer Hudson’s appearance left me wondering how far she has pushed the Weight Watchers diet. She looks good, but each time I see her she seems to be getting skinnier and skinnier and she’s now at the point where I would start to question how far she will go,” dietitian Marisa Sherry says in an interview with CBS News.

Sherry is not the only one to voice this type of concern. Allure editorial assistant Alison Caporimo says everybody at the Oscars was talking about the same thing, how thin Hudson appeared to have gotten.

“I think she might be too thin, you know? I liked her better when she was in the middle: not overweight, but not too skinny,” one of Caporimo’s friends reportedly said.

Other e-zines have also pointed out that she seemed to have lost even more weight since her last public appearance for Weight Watchers, with some even saying that she was nearly invisible when she turned to the side.

Jezebel, on the other hand, believes this is just nutritionists’ way of gratuitously criticizing a celebrity under the guise of well-wishing.

“Apparently there’s a fine line between thin enough that you are no longer considered a failure at life (despite your Oscar and Grammy) and being so skinny, nutritionists must feign concern about your well-being in the press,” the women-oriented publication says.
