Former model Kathy Ireland became the talk of the town over the weekend when she came across as a “hot mess” while co-hosting ABC’s pre-Oscars Red Carpet ceremony. The moment the first images of her aired, fans took to Twitter saying she was either drunk or heavily medicated, claims she bitterly rubbished on Twitter the moment she was done with her responsibilities, as the New York Daily News can confirm.

What struck viewers the most was the fact that Ireland seemed excessively “hyped” and that her nervousness couldn’t have probably be caused by what she said she was “on,” namely “J.O.Y!” She was posing too much, even as she interviewed the stars she was supposed to interview, moved her arms about in a very robotic and awkward fashion, and said some of the strangest things, tweeterers said.

Because of her odd behavior, Kathy Ireland and her performance as co-host on the red carpet became the second most popular topic on Twitter, which would explain why she felt the need to reply to all the haters and critics in the same manner. She was not drunk and she was not on any medication and, no, she did not have too much Red Bull, the star wrote to all those who had something bad to say about her. The only thing that made her act this way was the fact that she was ecstatic to have been asked to act as host.

“Some viewers called her a ‘hot mess,’ while others cast her as their vote for ‘best use of medication.’ Today, Ireland shocked even more by personally responding to each Twitter critic. ‘Acting isn’t a strength of mine,’ she wrote to one commenter, ‘Design is my world. Not an actor and have movies 2 prove it.’ To another, she denied the suggestion that she’s pregnant – calling it a compliment, of all things,” the NY Daily News writes.

Aside from taking the time to respond to each critic, Ireland also went to great lengths to thank even those who had only bad things to say. “Great for people 2B honest. Helps me learn & grow. No Red Bull or chemicals... just J.O.Y.! So many mis understood that the J.O.Y. was being invited 2 co host. Grateful to all. [F]or those of you who were tough, thanks for helping me grow,” she tweeted.
