The biggest stars of the movie industry were present at this year’s Academy Awards, held on Sunday night. However, stars were not the only ones trying to get in at the exclusive event, with police telling TMZ they have arrested at least 10 men for trying to get in without the proper credentials and authorizations.

For instance, 9 Germans were detained on the red carpet for having fake passes, though they did brandish credentials with MTV and CITI logos. Upon closer inspection, though, police established the passes were fake and that 9 men were arrested and escorted to a nearby jail. At the time news broke, it was believed they would be out on bail in a matter of hours, though we have no word of this yet.

“Law enforcement sources tell TMZ 9 German men were arrested on the red carpet at The Oscars yesterday – in the middle of peak celebrity traffic time – after cops noticed ze Germans were rubbing elbows with the stars without proper authorization. When cops approached the men around 4:45 PM PST, we’re told they brandished red carpet passes with the MTV and CITI logos on them - but the problem, according to law enforcement, was that the passes were counterfeit,” TMZ says.

This was the second incident of the night, with security guards and police detaining another man earlier, when he tried to get past security after breaking in on the premises, before stars began arriving on the red carpet. It is believed the man was hoping to gain access into the venue and simply watch the ceremony from there. Cops got to him – photos of the arrest are already online – he was detained, escorted to jail and booked for trespassing. His bail was set at $5,000.

“TMZ has learned cops had to spring into action Sunday when a non-Hollywood type ran onto the red carpet. It all went down around 1:30 PM PST – right before the stars began to arrive. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ they believe a 28-year-old dude scaled a six or seven foot fence, got on to the red carpet and began ‘skipping.’ We’re told he then broke in to a run but cops immediately caught up with him and escorted the dude to the ground,” TMZ says.
