Olympian Oscar Pistorius will be facing additional charges during his trial for murder in the Reeva Steenkamp case. Officials have stated that he will be facing firearm-related charges.

According to the Zimkasi NewsBite, The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) head Mxolisi Nxasana has confirmed that he will be charging Pistorius with two more counts, reckless and negligent discharge of a firearm.

The charges are related to two separate incidents that took place in Johannesburg. One of them involves using a firearm at a Tasha's restaurant at Melrose Arch in January. Pistorius also fired through a vehicle's sunroof last year.

While his lawyers have argued that the cases should not be tried at the same time, citing separate jurisdictions, the prosecution will be bringing all three to court in Pretoria.

"At the end of the day, I think it will work for Mr Pistorius because it's going to be convenient to have all his cases against him heard in one court. Obviously, for the state, it's a good thing because then we don't have to spread the witnesses across two different courts," Nxasana says.
