So you thought you’ve heard it all in terms of smartwatches? Smartwatch with a rectangular display? Check. With a round display? Also check. How about a curved one? We also have that covered.

But what all these models have in common is that they take advantage of only one display. The creators of the Oru Watch have plans to revolutionize the smartwatch industry with an intelligent timepiece that is said to be the world’s first coming to a dual display.

Yes, you read that right. the Oru Watch takes advantage of an E-paper and TFT screen at the same time. The transition between the two models is achieved by virtue of rotating the display in its hinge.

How to switch between the two options

What you have to do is pull the watch crown to release the dial lock and rotate the dial to the desired screen, then lock it again.

On top of that, the model also straps a Power bank to your writs to charge your mobile phone. So what more do you need?

But why would you need a smartwatch with two different displays, you might ask at this point.

Well, the high-resolution, color TFT touch screen one could be used to display notifications and such. But if you want to access the health-related dimension of the watch, you can make use of the low energy, always-on E-paper display.

Using separate displays for different tasks will ensure that you will keep your watch alive for longer.

We also mentioned, the Oru watch has a built-in power bank which can bestow between 2 to 6 hours of extra talktime to the smartphone you paired to your wearable.

The Oru watch has a bunch of other nifty features embedded. For example, you can just shake your wrist in order to reject an incoming call.

The team behind the product says you can also compose SMS messages, email and even make Skype calls. On top of that, the watch has 5ATM water resistance, and the product’s Indiegogo page says you can even swim with it.

Apart from the relaying notifications, the watch will displays calendar, reminders, weather or flight alerts and users can even control music from their phone.

The health-related dimension of the watch is pretty extensive

In the health related department the watch can track Heart rate and monitor your sleeping patterns. Moreover, it comes with a golf range tracker, cycle speedometer and an activity monitor for any sport including swimming, running and the like.

The Oru Watch is currently gathering funds on Indiegogo and you can see a few renders of the watch. But when it arrives on the market, the wearable should be offered with a sleek elegant stainless steel main body and a smooth silicone rubber strap.

The watch is based on an 800 MHz single-core processor with 512MB of RAM and apparently runs Android KitKat out of the box. It has Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and 4.0 BLE, NFC and a 300mAh battery inside the watch dial plus 400 mAh battery in the silicone strap.

The Oru should be compatible with any device running iOS or Android and will be made available in red, white, black, green, pink and gold.

Early bidders can get the watch for $150 / €116 if they make a pledge now, but if the watch makes it out on the market at some point, it will sell for a pretty chunky $350 / €271 price tag.
