Towards the end of March, I got to report on how a baby polar bear got rescued in Alaska after his mother had been gunned down by hunters.

Recent news on the topic says that the orphaned polar bear, named Kali, now finds himself in Buffalo, New York. Sources report that the bear cub landed there this past Wednesday night. Kali will from now on be looked after by the staff at the Buffalo Zoo.

While there, he will get to play with Luna, another polar bear cub roughly his age.

Presently, the US Fish and Wildlife Service are yet unsure whether Kali will get to spend the rest of his life at the Buffalo Zoo, or maybe he will be transferred to some other animal sanctuary at some point in the future.

“The Alaska Zoo has done a tremendous job of providing excellent, temporary care for Kali,” reads a statement by Dan Ashe, director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

“I would like to personally thank the zoo for stepping up – at moment's notice – to care for this cub. Now, as Kali leaves Alaska for his next short-term home, we are confident that the Buffalo Zoo will provide the best of care for Kali as the Service makes a final determination on a permanent home for the cub,” Dan Ashe further said.
