The beloved Ratchet & Clank made a showing during Sony's press conference event at this year's edition of the E3 convention, with not one but two exciting announcements.

Insomniac Games is currently working closely with Sony's film division, Sony Pictures, in order to deliver the "Ratchet & Clank" movie, expected to come out sometime in 2015, that will tell Ratchet's origin story.

The developer is also working on a remake of the original game, in order to deliver it to the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system. The re-release will also focus on Ratchet's origin story and will include updated gameplay and completely new, enhanced visuals.

The Ratchet & Clank series of platforming games are set in a science fiction universe, where the anthropomorphic alien Ratchet and his trusty robotic sidekick Clank routinely save the universe from evil forces, by employing various over-the-top weapons and devices.

The Ratchet & Clank game is expected to come out sometime next year, at about the same time the movie debuts. You can get a glimpse of the animated film with the trailer below.

For now, no information regarding the specifics of the gameplay changes or pricing have been revealed, but we'll come back with more once Sony announces anything.
