The games were divisive and could have used more attention

Mark Pacini, the former game director on the Metroid Prime trilogy of games, says that all the video games he worked on while hired by Retro were bad and failed to achieve their potential.

The veteran developer is quoted by Gamespot as saying that, “Prime 3 I feel is the most fun one to play. Prime 2 is divisive. You either like it or you don't. That’s kind of the way I look at it.”

The Metroid Prime trilogy was generally well liked by fans and got solid sales.

Pacini believes that the fast development and launch process left him unable to evaluate the game property while he was still working on it.

Since Other M was launched, publisher Nintendo has offered no information on how it plans to approach the Metroid franchise in the future, but a title featuring Samus Aran for the Wii U would probably drive up sales.
