The 3D craze definitely seems as though it is here to stay. Until not long ago, sightings of 3D monitors or TVs, both in the wild as well as in homes, were still fairly sporadic. However, the studios in Hollywood are now more open to this display mode and even 3D TV broadcasts have sprouted. Not only that but, on the gaming front, the Nintendo 3DS, set to start shipping by the end of the year, is expected to perform quite admirably, marketing-wise, even though it will be about as expensive as a PlayStation 3.

Regardless of how this trend progresses, the fact remains that, at present, 3D is seen in a favorable light. To make the best of it, Origin stealthily brought out the EON15-3D. This machine is a 15.6-inch mobile computer with a 120Hz display and the NVIDIA 3D Vision technology, which can convert 2D content into full stereoscopic 3D.

Obviously, being a gaming system, the internal components are nothing to be frowned upon. At the heart lies an Intel Core i5 or Core i7 central processing unit, backed up by up to 8GB of RAM and a GeForce GTX 285 graphics card, with a VRAM of 1GB. This GPU feeds an LCD screen, whose native resolution is of 1366 x 768 pixels.

The list of components goes on, with the storage options standing out more than the rest. To be specific, instead of a 500GB hard disk, purchasers can select a 512GB solid state drive.

Other specifications of the Origin EON15-3D include a DVD or Blu-ray drive and all the necessary connectivity and I/O options (Ethernet, USB etc.). Finally, and obviously, the 3D Vision kit, with 3D software and glasses, is included in the package. Orders can already be placed through the PC maker's official website, for $1,919.
