Electronic Arts has confirmed that its Origin digital distribution service now has over 50 million users worldwide, with almost half of them, around 22 million, coming from mobile platforms.

Origin came out some time ago and, while it was met with reticence by gamers who didn't want to use the service instead of other platforms, like Steam, it quickly captured the attention of many people.

After confirming at the beginning of the year that it had around 40 million users on its service, EA has just revealed in its latest financial earnings call, via CVG, that it now has over 50 million registered users.

Among those people, around 22 million come from mobile platforms, like smartphones or tablets, as EA requires players to sign up for an Origin account before playing its games on those platforms.
