Origami artist Sipho Mabona managed to give the paper folding technique a more significant meaning, creating a life-size paper elephant by carefully folding a single, immense sheet of paper.

The artist and his team spent four weeks working on the 10-foot (3-meter) tall elephant sculpture. They used a 50-by-50-foot (15.2-by-15.2-meter) piece of white paper and showed the world the artistic potential of a single sheet of paper.

This amazing work of art proves that there is no limit to what can be created from an uncut square piece of paper. I cannot imagine where he got a single sheet of paper that big, but that's not really important. What's important is that the result of his work is truly amazing.

The artist wanted his creation to be as close as possible to the real animal, so he paid special attention to details. He even made eyes to the elephant, and the paper looks like real elephant skin.

In order to raise money for the creation of the origami masterpiece, Mabona initiated an Indiegogo campaign that brought him $26,000 (€18,660), Inhabitat informs.

The artwork, dubbed “White Elephant,” is currently on display at the KKLB Museum in Beromunster, Switzerland.

In the video above you can see how the massive animal is slowly taking shape from a 2-dimensional surface.
