The baby penguins are expected to make their public debut sometime this summer

Three Humboldt penguin chicks have recently emerged from their eggs at Oregon Zoo in the United States, and rumor has it that they are utterly adorable.

Unfortunately, the baby penguins will only make their public debut sometime this summer, so visitors to the wildlife park will have to wait a while longer to see them.

Zoo Borns tells us that, for the time being, the penguin chicks are hidden from curious gazes in their nest boxes. Their parents are the ones in charge of looking after them, and keepers reassure us that the baby penguins are all well looked after.

In case anyone was jealous of them for getting this much attention, it must be said that, presently, the chicks' parents keep them on a diet of so-called fish smoothies that they themselves make in their stomachs.

As disgusting as this may sound, caretakers at Oregon Zoo say that the baby penguins just love this treat, and that one of them has been eating so much of it that it has earned the nickname Porker.

Due to the fact that they are still very young, the chicks look less like their parents and more like plush toys. Apparently, they will get their black-and-white tuxedo markings in about two years' time.
