A teen from Oregon claims that she has been turned away from a store in the local mall over her weight.

14-year-old Shelby Buster of Eugene described how the manager of Rue 21 at Valley River Center mall refused to serve her. It was her birthday and the first time she was shopping without her mother.

Buster tried to enter Rue 21 while her mother was at the food court. She recalls feeling insulted and discriminated against. The store website shows that they carry plus size clothing.

“I walked in and the lady at the front counter said hey you’re too big to be in this store, I need you to leave,” Buster tells KEZI.

Her mom is now asking for an explanation while the store is investigating the incident.
