Wireless services provider Orange UK went official with plans to add to its offering three new Sony Ericsson smartphones running under Google's Android operating system, namely the black flavor of Xperia arc, along with Xperia neo and Xperia PLAY.

According to the wireless operator, all of these devices should hit its network as soon as the second quarter of the ongoing year. The Xperia arc was launched at the CES show in Las Vegas in early January, while Xperia neo and Xperia PLAY went official at MWC 2011 in Barcelona only a few days ago.

Nicola Shenton, Head of Device Portfolio, Everything Everywhere said: “Orange is a one stop shop for the very best Android devices and the latest announcement with Sony Ericsson reinforces this.”

“The Sony Ericsson Xperia neo, Xperia PLAY and Xperia arc are all truly innovative handsets which will allow consumers to enhance their mobile experience.”

Sony Ericsson Xperia arc will arrive exclusively at Orange in Black, with its large 4.2” multi-touch screen, a Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine that can deliver a great viewing experience to all users.

Moreover, the new smartphone should land on shelves at the wireless carrier with an 8.1 mega-pixel camera and HD video recording capabilities, built in HDMI-connector, the entire range of connectivity options and sensors, and with enhanced performance capabilities courtesy of its fast application processor.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia neo also comes with an 8.1 mega-pixel camera, complemented by a VGA front facing camera. It also sports a 3.7” display, built in HDMI-connector, a 1GHz application processor, and support for up to 32GB of additional storage space via microSD memory card.

Finally, the highly anticipated Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY features a slide out game controller and is pre-loaded with technology certified by Playstation. It packs a 4-inch screen, a 1GHz CPU, front-facing camera, and a 5MP photo snapper on the back.

All three smartphones offer support for various Google Mobile Services, and for applications downloadable from the Android Market. No info on the price tag they might feature at Orange UK emerged for the time being.
