The Samsung Omnia HD, or the 8GB variant of the Samsung i8910 HD, is now available for purchase in the UK via the mobile phone operator Orange. The carrier's users that would like to acquire the handset will find it available at a price tag of £97.50 upon the signing of a new £35 contract for 18 months.

For the time being, it seems that the handset can be acquired only directly from Orange retail stores or from the carrier's online store, where we learn that it is in limited stock. However, it is expected to become available through Orange's retail partners as well, and when that happens, the price of the Samsung i8910 HD should fall.

As many of you might already know, the Samsung i8910 HD comes to the market as the first S60 5th Edition mobile phone from the South Korean handset maker. At the same time, the phone is marketed with a great stress on its HD recording and playback capabilities. Moreover, the 8GB of internal memory it sports as well as the 3.7-inch touchscreen are also features that need to be taken into consideration.

The handset can be seen on Orange’s site under the name of Samsung i8910 HD, which suggests that the carrier has tried to avoid confusion with another Samsung phone, the Windows Mobile-powered Omnia, also available for purchase. The device is expected to feature the Omnia HD moniker on some other markets, as the mobile phone maker announced a while ago.

Beside the above mentioned specs of the handset, we should also mention the 8-megapixel photo snapper with video recording capabilities and smile shutter features, along with the Wi-Fi capabilities, support for 3G connectivity, Bluetooth, speakerphone, music player and e-mail capabilities, as well as a wide range of other functionalities.
