Initially launched in Portugal via Optimus carrier, Huawei Ideos X1 U8180 will soon be available in the UK as Orange Stockholm.

Orange Sidney, another Android-based smartphone, also known as Samsung Star II, is also listed as “coming soon” on the carrier's official website.

Both devices will be offered by Orange UK only on PAYG (pay as you go), but there is no information regarding the phones' prices or release date yet.

Bearing a sleek and stylish design, Orange Stockholm is more than a simple entry-level smartphone.

The phone runs Google's Android 2.2 (Froyo) operating system, along with some bloatware courtesy to Orange.

There's no information regarding a possible software upgrade in the future, but it is highly unlikely that the phone will receive the Gingerbread update.

Equipped with a low-performance Qualcomm MSM7225 processor that is clocked at 528 MHz speed, the Orange Stockholm packs 256MB RAM, 512MB ROM, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

The device comes with a small 2.8-inch QVGA capacitive touchscreen with 240 x 320 pixels resolution, accelerometer for auto-rotate, as well as a mediocre 3.2-megapixel photo snapper and FM radio.

Orange Stockholm is HSDPA-enabled and offers users multiple connectivity options, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS with A-GPS support.

The re-branded Samsung Star II will also arrive in the UK via Orange, as Orange Sidney. However, unlike the original Star II that comes with a 3.0-inch display, the Sidney features a slightly larger 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen with 240 x 400 pixels resolution.

Other highlights of the phone include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, 3.5mm audio port, a 3.2-megapixel main camera, and FM radio.

The phone's battery is rated by the carrier for up to 6 hours of talk time or up to 11 days of standby time.

Orange Sidney will be available in two simple color schemes: white and black.
