Better WiFi coverage in the UK

Orange just partnered with The Cloud in order to benefit from the company's huge network of WiFi hotspots across the UK. This should expand Orange's coverage for this service and result in better services for this operator's subscribers.

The Cloud is one of the UK's widest WiFi networks, which means that Orange's WiFi Access service will boost when it comes to quality and coverage. 350,000 people who work and live in London use the high-speed wireless broadband access from this company across the city.

The new agreement completes Orange's work with GNER to develop on-train WiFi solutions and the company's work with Virgin Trains to provide passengers with an advanced 3G service during their journey. The Cloud will increase the number of solutions for this technology across the UK and give Orange a lead in its competition with other major telecom service providers here.

"We have numerous WiFi partners complementing a range of other wireless technologies, but no matter which network an Orange customer is using, the user interface and billing remains consistent", said Anthony Keyworth. Moreover, "The reach of our WiFi coverage is critical but the user experience is what really counts. Business Everywhere gives our customers a convenient, user friendly way of accessing our partners' WiFi networks and our other high-speed, mobile data networks", he also added.

Orange already has WiFi agreements with other companies, including BT OpenZone, France Telecom and WeRoam. This new agreement expands Orange's WiFi access to more than 10,000 hotspots across the UK.

In order to use Orange's WiFi services, customers need only the Business Everywhere mobile data card offering. This provides access to some of the most evolved mobile data transfer solutions coming from this provider. With it, WiFi, HSDPA, 3G, EDGE, GPRS and 2G networks all become available, leaving it up to the device to choose the fastest connection available in a specific area.
