The Register claims it stumbled upon pictures of Orange's latest smartphone, the SPV C550, the succesor of the C500 model, which is the smallest smartphone in the world but it still had an FM radio, Bluetooth, Tri-Band, Java and an external SD card slot.

The latest SPV to wear the Orange stamp seems to be produced also by HTC in Taiwan, which also is responsible for putting together the SPV C500.

The C550 also appears to be an HTC product, an updated version of the manufacturer's Amadeus music-oriented handset, better known as the T-Mobile SDA Music.

The leaked image of Orange's latest smart hanset shows a keypad and control layout that matches that of HTC's Amadeus music-oriented handset, better known as the T-Mobile SDA Music.

According to the site, the new smart phone will sport a 240 x 320 LCD capable of displaying 262,000 colours. It comes with a 1,3 Megapixel camera and 64 MB of RAM, but it also includes a Mini SD slot for extra storage. Other than that, the phone includes the usual USB port, and can hook up to similar devices either via infrared or Bluetooth.

Rumours indicate that Orange should prepare to launch this model in May this year. The network is already known to be preparing a version of HTC's Universal 3G palmtop handset, along with versions of the Taiwanese ODM's Alpine and Magician PocketPC phones.

It seems that Orange wants to muscle up its own brand of handsets and more Orage gadgets should arrive by the end of this year.
