Nokia and Oracle have announced an agreement through which Oracle business users will benefit from direct access to Nokia’s Location Platform (NLP).

At the moment, Nokia offers maps services in over 200 countries around the world, which will be available for licensing for Oracle users to include in their Oracle applications.

All is possible through the creation of a built-in link between Oracle Fusion Middleware MapViewer (a J2EE service for rendering maps) and NLP.

“Oracle Fusion Middleware MapViewer provides services and tools that hide the complexity of spatial data queries and cartographic rendering, while providing customizable options for more advanced users such as developers of geographic business analytic applications,” Nokia explains.

Thus, Nokia's map data can be integrated into Oracle business applications. The capability is already available for Oracle users worldwide.
