Wireless carrier Optus is reportedly gearing up to make the new Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone available for purchase in Australia as soon as December 20th.

Nothing was officially announced on this, but the guys over at Ausdroid note that things have been confirmed internally at the wireless carrier.

When made available, the Galaxy Nexus will be free on the wireless carrier’s $79 Business Cap (24-month contract).

The rest of the company’s customers will be able to purchase the new Google phone soon after it is made available for business users.

The handset has a lot to offer, since it is the latest Google phone out there and the first of the series to run under the new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform, yet the $800 price tag it featured before seemed a bit high.
