Optus, the second largest mobile carrier in Australia, has announced the availability of two new unlimited voice and messaging plans. Called "'yes' Timeless," the new plan will offer to the Australian subscribers of Optus unlimited national calls and unlimited messages to any national GSM network.

There are two versions of the new plan:

- a $99 per month one, which includes, besides unlimited voice calls, SMS and MMS messages, 200MB of data;

- and a $129 one, which includes 2GB of data.

"This industry first will change the way customers use their mobile by providing unlimited calls and SMS to networks within Australia," declared Warren Hardy, Optus Consumer Managing Director. "Un-timed calls will no longer be restricted to a landline. This is a clear disruption to the market, allowing customers the freedom to ditch their landline and be free to talk as long as they want and deliver real savings into their household budget."

Besides the unlimited plan, Optus has also announced a new live video monitoring service, namely Optus SecureCam. This allows customers who own 3G handsets to easily monitor their offices or houses.

Speaking about SecureCam, Phil McDermott, Head of Product Marketing, Optus Small and Medium Business, declared: "Many customers, especially small business operators, have found traditional security systems to be costly or difficult to set up. Optus SecureCam is easy to install and offers customers the ultimate in video monitoring with real time viewing of their home or office. Customers can receive SMS or email notification after motion has been detected by their Optus SecureCam, with live video footage of the monitored areas then accessible over the Internet via a 3G compatible mobile phone or PC."

SecureCam is available only for Optus' 3G mobile Post-Paid customers. The handsets that currently support the service are: BlackBerry Curve 8310, HTC Touch Dual LG KU990 (Viewty), Motorola V9, Nokia 6500 Classic, Nokia 6500 Slide, Nokia 6220, Nokia 6110 Navigator, Samsung J750, Samsung i780, Samsung i560 and Sony Ericsson C902.
