Australian wireless services provider Optus has just confirmed that it would have the new HTC Incredible S smartphone available for purchase on its airwaves starting with May 1st.

Optus would have the new device exclusively on its network starting with Sunday, and users would be able to purchase the new device from the carrier's stores on that day, and online from its website starting with May 6th.

The new mobile phone was unveiled to the world back in February during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

The mobile phone arrives at Optus with a large 4-inch Super LCD touchscreen display that can boast a 480 x 800 pixel resolution, and with a fast 1GHz application processor inside.

The new mobile phone also comes with an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with dual LED flash, auto focus and 720p HD video recording capabilities.

Moreover, HTC Incredible S sports 1.1GB of internal memory, complemented by a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space, and with a 16 GB microSD card included in the package.

3G support, along with WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity were included into the mix as well, along with built-in GPS receiver, and the usual set of sensors.

The new mobile phone also comes with great multimedia capabilities, with HD video playback, and with impressive web browsing features as well.

Not to mention that it offers support for various Google Mobile services, as well as for applications that can be downloaded and installed via the Android Market.

At Optus Australia, the new HTC Incredible S will be put for sale for $0 upfront on the $49 Optus Cap. Users would also be able to purchase it on various other plans.

The new Android-based smartphone is available for business customers as well, for $0 on a $49 Business Complete Ultimate plan, Ausdroid notes in a recent article.
